Bernd A. Zängle to be the new Director of Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg
Bernd A. Zängle, an experienced hotel manager who has just completed a long stint in charge of the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart, will be taking over as Director at the Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg with effect from 1 January 2012.
After 18 years in Stuttgart, Bernd A. Zängle is leaving the city to make the long journey north to central Hamburg where he will be taking over the reins as Director of the luxury Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg with effect from
1. January 2012.
Freiburg born Bernd A. Zängle spent 18 years in charge at the Deluxe Hotel Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart and can look back on a considerable record of achievement after having succeeded in positioning the establishment as the leading hotel in the Stuttgart market. The Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin has also recently undergone extensive renovations and has been named as one of Germany's best 50 hotels in the respected guidebooks. The gourmet restaurant Olivo has been the proud bearer of a Michelin Star for 13 years and is one of the top places to eat in the city whereas the Zeppelin Day Spa has also won multiple awards.
It is, however, now time for Bernd A. Zängle to make his wealth of experience available to the Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg. Arco Buijs, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG in Frankfurt am Main, strikes a confident note. "Bernd A. Zängle has many years of expertise in hotel management to offer and is precisely the right person to take on this task".
Zängle joined Steigenberger in 1988 and managed the Hotel Steigenberger Duisburger Hof in Duisburg until 1992. Following a further post as Director in the Steigenberger Axelmannstein in Bad Reichenhall, he moved to Stuttgart in 1993 and made his professional home at the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin for just under two decades.
At the Steigenberger Hamburg, Bernd A. Zängle will be stepping into the shoes of Hamburg born Karl Schlichting, who has been successfully heading up the hotel since taking on the position of Pre-Opening Manager in 1991 before becoming General Manager two years later and whose achievements include the management and coordination of a full-scale renovation of the 233-room hotel.
Karl Schlichting will be leaving the Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg and the Steigenberger Hotel Group to pursue other business opportunities.
